A Few Days in NYC – Day 1

If you follow me on Instagram or Snapchat (timmelideo) you know that I was in NYC earlier in the week. I was in town for a shoot but of course I extended the trip just to be back in the city I love. I figured I’d do a little wrap up on outfits with a few tips on packing.

I basically only ever bring one carry on and a backpack (usually just because I have photo gear to bring). I hate checking a bag because it either gets lost or at adds at least 30 minutes to the delay of leaving the airport. Plus, when you are in New York, it’s likely that your hotel room will be tiny and having a big suitcase sucks. So what I try to do when I pack is pack items that I can wear a bunch of different ways. And I almost always wear the bulkiest stuff on the plane. Before I left I picked up some new jeans from American Eagle, as well as a shirt. They are from their new Flex Denim collection and they are SO stretchy, they feel like spandex or something. So they are perfect for flights. And there was some crazy sale and they were only $20!! I also picked up this shirt while I was there. So for the flight I wore a blazer, jeans, the shirt, and my boots. That allowed me to save some room in my suitcase.

Once I got to my hotel (and after I took a nap) I swapped the blazer for my faux-leather jacket, untucked the shirt, and headed out on the town to get some coffee and do some mandatory shopping. Unfortunately it was Sunday so everything was closed or closing by the time I got there. So I headed back to the hotel and swapped out the pants, tucked in the shirt, put on my oxfords, and put my blazer back on. I had a little bit left on a gift card to a favorite cocktail bar of ours (yes a gift card to a bar) called The Campbell Apartment so I headed there to finish out the card since I didn’t know the next time I’d be able to use it. I had 2 Manhattans. But just check out how the outfits went. Only changed the shoes and the jacket, really. But I essentially had 3 outfits.
